Arbiter is Dante's first demonic weapon in DmC: Devil May Cry. A weapon of great heft, it crushes almost anything with its thunderous strikes.
Description[]
Arbiter is an oversized battleaxe with a red-and-black color scheme. The red blade is large and curves over some of the shaft as many bearded axes do. The grip is the same as his Rebellion, owing to the weapon's shape-shifting quality. When it is used to attack, it leaves behind a dark red streak in its wake, and an eruption of red and orange sparks as it hits the ground.
Arbiter also has Golden, Bone, and Samurai skins available through DLC that change its appearance, and can be acquired either by pre-ordering the game or by purchasing them seperately.[1]

DmC: Devil May Cry[]
- DmC: Devil May Cry - Move List description
- Arbiter
- A demonic axe whose swings are slow, but powerful.
- DmC: Devil May Cry - Online Manual[2]
- Arbiter
- A heavy, magical axe that can destroy walls and shields that normal attacks cannot!
- Devil May Cry: A Divine Comedy[3]
- Arbiter
- A gigantic battle axe capable of defeating the most resistant enemies. Its name is rather ironic because it tends to "arbitrate" in a less than subtle manner.
Story[]
While exploring the ruins of his childhood home, Dante comes across an old portrait of his father, Sparda. While observing the portrait, Dante is ambushed by a pack of demons. After defeating them, the winged carving at the base of the portrait begins to glow red and seems to silently call to Dante. Dante moves closer and reaches into the round carving, but his hand is quickly magnetized to the metal. Dark red, demonic power begins flowing from the carving, through Dante's arm and into Rebellion, which transforms into Arbiter. DmC: Devil May Cry
Gameplay[]
The Arbiter focuses on single, powerful strikes that can generate shockwaves to inflict added damage to surrounding enemies.
Arbiter is a powerful weapon. It is far slower than the Rebellion, but packs enough punch to crack enemies' shields. It doesn't have nearly as many attack options, and is well-suited for combat on the ground. What attacks it does have are usually enough to keep enemies at bay with the shockwaves it can produce. Trinity Smash is the main attack you're going to want to use, as it is the strongest attack of all weapons in the game, next to a fully charged 3rd hit of Eryx. Arbiter should not be used against fast opponents unless they are stunned, and is risky to use when surrounded, as its attacks leave Dante wide-open for extended periods.
With Arbiter's heavy strikes, the weapon can also be used to break open brittle walls and other objects.

Other Appearences[]
Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale[]
Dante has Arbiter in Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, and with it he has access to DmC's Tremor, Flush, and Aerial Flush (Aerial Arbiter Hurl).
Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale also adapts and changes some of Dante's existing DmC Arbiter moves.
- Tremor - Dante slams Arbiter into the ground, launching nearby enemies. Despite sharing the same name, the startup of PSASBR's Tremor is much faster than DmC's, and it also consequently lacks the follow-up fault-line projectile that launches distant enemies into the air.
- Aerial Arbiter Hurl - Dante hurls Arbiter's axe head at his enemies from an airborne position, launching any who come into contact with it. This move is very similar to DmC 's Aerial Flush attack with Arbiter, except now the axe head projectile also ricochets off completely vertical surfaces.
Background[]
An "arbiter" is someone who mediates a dispute, like a judge.
In gambling, a flush is a poker hand where all five cards are of the same suit.

Trivia[]
- Acquiring the Arbiter rewards the player with the It's got to stay in the family award. The title for this award is a reference to a line said by Dante to Nero in Devil May Cry 4 when Dante was demanding that the Yamato be given to him.
- In beta gameplay footage from 2011, Arbiter is seen with a more redish color than the orange seen in the final release.
