The '''Ascension Ceremony''' is a magical ritual created by the [[Fortuna#Order of the Sword|Order of the Sword]], the spasifics of this ritual is unknown. The ritual appear to grant the perticapent bothe demonic power and The [Devil Trigger] ability. The ''"ascended"'' assume "angelic" appearance and powers, although in reality they merely become artificial demons. It seems that the ritual can resurrect the recently dead, as it was with Sanctus, although it is possible that he was brought barely alive and healed in the process instead of being resurrected. In the ''Deadly Fortune'' novel it is said that those who attempt the ritual but are too weak can turn into demons and lose their sanity.

The Ascension Ceremony

Sanctus resurrected after the Ascension Ceremony.

Could we isolate and bind demonic power, it could enable us to conquer the world! And that, that is the wish of His Holiness!

The Template:Translation is a magical ritual created by the Order of the Sword. The "ascended" assume angelic appearances and powers, although in reality they merely become demons[1] that can switch from human form to demonic at will.

Although not mentioned directly, it is possible that the ritual was developed by Agnus himself, through research into the true Hell Gate and fragments of the dark angel. The ritual is known to be used on Sanctus, Agnus, and Credo, and also on knights who became Alto Angelos and those slain by Dante in the opera house. In Devil May Cry 4: Deadly Fortune, it is said that those who attempt the ritual, but are too weak, can turn into unnatural false demons and lose their sanity.

Story

Ascension Ceremony

The Ascension Chamber where the Ascension Ceremony brought Sanctus back to life.

The ritual is only partly shown during Sanctus's ascension. Whether Sanctus died from Dante's attack or was merely severely injured is unknown, but he has already healed from the bullet wound by the time Nero reaches Fortuna Castle and is lying on a bed-like altar beneath a canopy. With Credo watching over him dilligently, Sanctus wakes fitfully. Agnus then enters the room and compliments His Holiness, but Credo blocks him from getting too close to the recently ascended Sanctus.

Trivia

  • In TEPPEN, one of the cards displays Credo during his ceremony.
