Devil May Cry Wiki

Demon King is the ninth mission in Devil May Cry 5 and the eighth "proper" mission.

Judging by Lady's account, there's little chance that Trish and Dante made it out of the battle against the demon king unscathed. Nero and V pressed on through the subway system and finally reached the roots of the Qliphoth. The ruins of an old house there prompted V to share his thoughts... which only deepened Nero's suspicions. Who or what is V?

Continue down the path where a few Empusas appear; defeat them. Proceed until Nero reaches a small arena; defeat the enemies. Continue until Nero arrives at a waterfall made of lava. Jump on the moving platform and jump to the left to get some Red Orbs; then jump to the right. Up ahead, shoot the Grim Grips to make them appear, then grab them to fling Nero to a ledge with Red Orbs. After getting them and destroying the Qliphoth Saplings, enter the blood elevator.

Keep walking deeper into the tree until Nero reaches an area that closes him in with enemies and the platform begins falling. If the platform drops, the player will have to defeat enemies to continue. Search for the ledges on the left and jump on them to a fire platform. Target the Grim Grip to use it to reach the ledge above. Jump all the way down to proceed. A new enemy called the Baphomet appears; defeat it to proceed to the next blood elevator. It brings Nero near a Divine Statue that he can interact if he needs customization. Up ahead, there is another falling platform and a Blue Orb Fragment across.

In the platform, enemies appear; defeat them. At the next blood elevator, go behind it to get some Red Orbs then enter the blood elevator. Up ahead, more enemies appear so defeat them to proceed to the blood waterfall ahead. When you return to the lava waterfall, ride it all the way to the top to get the Gold Orb. Don't enter the final blood elevator yet; defeat the Qliphoth Sapling behind it for a Blue Orb Fragment to appear. Ride the elevator and use the phone booth if Nero needs some more customization to prepare for the boss battle.

Boss: Urizen[]

This battle, initially, is a repeat of the previous battles with Urizen, following the exact same gameplay. Just like the previous Urizen fights, it is effectively meant to be lost, as rather than a game over screen once the player's health reaches zero, the player will receive a cutscene segueing into the following mission. To cut time, the player can choose to simply allow Urizen to beat them without any resistance. However, also like previous Urizen fights, this battle can be won, even without any special upgrades, but it is VERY difficult, taking a very considerable amount of time even on lower difficulties. If the player succesfully manages to destroy Urizen's crystal, a cutscene will play whereupon Nero will manage to cut into Urizen's palm. Enraged, Urizen will stand up from his thrown, initiating the second phase of this fight, which is even more difficult than the previous one as the player will be tasked with avoiding his multiple tentacles, aggressive laser attacks, swipes, and will still need to destroy his protective crystal (albeit considerably weaker) in order to fully leave him exposed to damage. The reward for beating him in this phase is the same as the first fight, where a small cutscene showing text stating that peace has returned will show and the player will unlock a higher difficulty mode.
