Hideki Kamiya, born December 19,1970, is the sole Director of Devil May Cry and some famous Capcom games like Resident Evil and Viewtiful Joe.

Career

After graduating from college, Kamiya applied to various game developers. He was turned down by SEGA and had an application with Namco. However, Namco wanted Hideki to be a game artist rather than a game director. He later worked with Capcom in 1994 as the planner of Resident Evil and the director of Resident Evil 2. He was later the Director of Devil May Cry and Viewtiful Joe. In 2006, Kamiya and some of his Capcom colleagues formed a new company, Platinum Games, which then made the game Bayonetta for SEGA.

Role in the Devil May Cry series

Hideki Kamiya directed the first Devil May Cry game; however, the direction of the second and the third games were given to another department. Because of this, gamers will find the feel of Devil May Cry 2 to be different than its predecessor; it was very easy, and Dante did not have his signature "devil may care" attitude. The third game returned to many of the same concepts as the first, to meet the expectations of fans. Although development of Devil May Cry 4 was returned to the same team that created the original Devil May Cry, Kamiya did not direct the game.

Kamiya also penned two graphic novels, "Devil May Cry Volume 1" and "'Devil May Cry Volume 2", which detail Dante's life before and after the first game, respectively.
