Just Charging is a property of certain chargeable moves in the Devil May Cry games. The point is releasing just as the attack becomes charged.

Effect[]

By making a just-charged attack, it will emit a specific bright glow and unique sound effect. The damage becomes roughly twice as powerful and some attacks may receive additional effects.

In DmC: Devil May Cry, Just Charge attacks are able to disable enemy devil trigger temporarily at Dante Must Die difficulty, render them much more vulnerable. In addition, Vergil's just charge moves completely ignore blocking, Berserker and enemy devil trigger.

In Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition, Just Charged Judgment Cut can be chained up to 3 times (4 times if utilizing air tricks).

Yamato (4:SE) Judgement Cut Instantaneously releases and increases damage. On the ground, it is also indicated with Vergil not sliding backwards upon quick-drawing the Yamato.
Beowulf (4:SE) Beowulf Combo A Each hit gains additional damage. Can be executed with a Level 2 Charge as well, but Level 3 at near-max Concentration does not apply.
Beowulf Combo B Each hit gains additional damage. Can be executed with a Level 2 Charge as well, but Level 3 at near-max Concentration does not apply.
Beast Uppercut Becomes a more powerful Rising Dragon. Can be done with higher charge levels, but Level 3 at near-max Concentration does not apply.
Rising Dragon Becomes a more powerful Dragon Breaker. Can be done with higher charge levels, but Level 3 at near-max Concentration does not apply.

DmC: Devil May Cry/Vergil's Downfall (Definitive Edition)[]

Osiris Raze Gives Osiris its maximum charge and increases damage.
Ebony & Ivory Ricoshot Increases damage of each bounce.
Yamato (DmC) (VD) Judgement Cut Becomes Perfect Slice. Increases damage and number of slashes, and is red-orange in color instead of pale blue.
Rising Star Becomes Solar Flare. Increases damage and lifts all enemy types, and becomes red-orange as an indicator.
Volcano Becomes Atomic. Launches all enemies with a larger visual shockwave.

Trivia[]

  • In Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition, while on max concentration, Vergil can charge Beowulf up to three levels, instead of the two that are common to most gauntlet type weapons. The attacks release instantly independently of player's input when charge level 3 is reached, and the resulting attack is identical to a Just Charged level 2 attack. However, in Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition, each chargeable move of Beowulf at various charge levels is assigned with independent Just Charge bonuses, instead of a simple evolution to the next charge level.
