Lusachia are lesser demons that appears in Devil May Cry 5. In lower difficulties, it first appears on Mission 13: Three Warriors.

Description[]

Having evolved themselves to attain the ability to use magic via arcane chants, Lusachias developed multiple mouths which allow them to recite several spells at once. Unfortunately, this costed their form to reduce into floating mass of dark-colored flesh with their muscles become atrophied that they barely able to move their remaining limbs. Nevertheless, this sacrifice proved to be insignificant since Lusachias now attain great power to make up the loss.

Behavior[]

The Lusachia, similar to the Hell Judecca, will keep teleporting in the battlefield in order to get away from the player. It has long preparatory motions before all of its attacks, which allows the player to be highly aggressive. Once knocked down, they will eventually teleport away.

Lusachia has multiple attacks:

Ice Spell (Small): the demon casts two ice-elemental magic circles that float around it. By themselves, these circles are harmless, but when Lusachia performs any other attack (Ice Spell (Big), Plasma Orb, Heat Ray), they'll automatically shoot one small ice projectile each towards the player, in addition to any projectile created by the active attack. The ice projectiles can be deflected.

Ice Spell (Big): similar to the previous one, the demon casts an ice-elemental magic circle. However, this one is bigger and focused in front of it for a direct attack. After charging it, a big ice projectile will be shot towards the player in a straight line. The ice projectile can be deflected, and if it hits Lusachia on its way back, it'll stun the demon.

Plasma Orb: the demon surrounds itself with lightning and summons five orbs of electricity. These are individual projectiles that can be directly targeted and destroyed. They'll track the player's position but move slowly and erratically, often describing a curve. They'll disappear if they impact on a solid surface.

Heat Ray: Lusachia focuses energy on its hands, and once charged, shoots a powerful beam towards the player's current position (at the last moment of the charging phase).  The beam cannot be destroyed or deflected, but it's easily avoided by jumping or moving away just at the last second before it's fired.

Malefice: a very powerful attack, but has the longest charge time of all of Lusachia's attacks, and leaves the demon vulnerable whether it hits or not. When the demon drops its ice-elemental magic circles (if any) and starts slowly floating upwards while dark energy emanates both from it and the player, it's indication that the attack is being prepared. If nothing is done, once charged, a dark explosion will fill the screen and damage the player; after that, Lusachia enters a long weakened state in which it'll remain stunned, with its barrier down, unable to teleport or attack. If it is knocked out of the charging phase, it'll enter a shorter weakened state instead. Similar to Heat Ray, this attack tracks the player's position up until the last second of the charging phase: it's thus possible to avoid the attack altogether with a well-timed dash.

Nico's Enemy Report - Lusachia

Sure was interesting dissectin' this demon.
This thing bears out my theory on demon evolution. Can't do magic incantations without a mouth, right? So after a few generations of demons obsessed with arcane chants, you get something that's all mouths, with its muscles so atrophied it can hardly move its limbs.
And more mouths means more power. My guess is this thing could kill you dead with a single spell if you let it get the chant out. If you see it startin' something real ominous- looking, you'd better shut it down real quick.

Strategy[]

All of its attacks have long charge times and can take a large portion of the player character's health, especially on higher difficulties. As upgraded Baphomets they have a similar shield ability that protects them from ranged attacks, but are just as vulnerable to knockdowns. This allows any enemies they are supporting to be dealt with while they are on the ground.

Appearances in Other Media[]

TEPPEN[]

The Lusachia first appeared in TEPPEN with its "The Devils Awaken" expansion. It is featured in one unit card.

Trivia[]

  • Memorial photo caption – “Talk about a chatty Cathy.”
  • According to Daigo Ikeno development of Baphomet and Lusachia started with the idea of refining muscle-brain Goat Clan demons from Devil May Cry 2, but after many twists and turns, resulted in different, magic-centered characters.[1]
