An anonymous user on the wiki once said that BtN stated, or at least implied, that Gilver was one of Mundus' artificial demons. Is this true? What does BtN say about Gilver, if it says anything at all?
I've seen this mentioned on japanese wikipedia, too.
While Gilver is not directly metioned in BtN, they seem to suggest that he was the Black Knight Mundus sent to kill Tony, as mentioned in Trish chapter, his abilities based on Sparda/Vergil/Dante's battle data from previous encounters with demons. Although Knights are said to be clad in strong armor, and Gilver is a slender man with wrapped face, in the first novel Nell notices that his shadow looks like an armored knight (at that time of course it was a hint to Nero Angelo).
So that could indeed have been Bingo's intention.
But I'd still wait for VoV to explain why V came looking for Dante to Bobby's Cellar of all places.
In DMC5info's summary they said that Mundus sent demons to confirm Tony was Dante, which to me sounds like the Gilver encounter. After that he started experiments with black knights but they dont say that the prototypes ever fought the twins. Is this accuarate??
Summary has the line about Black Knights "...their imperfect nature and the power limit of artificial demons meant that they were not enough to kill Dante and Vergil." and in another translation something like "Knight hunted for Tony Redgrave for a long time, and even cornered him, but still was defeated. Mundus continued his experiments and created new knights again and again, but they couldn't kill neither Vergil nor Dante/Tony".
Tony is Dante confirmation were some lesser demons, that he defeated easily.
They are from that same Official Complete Guide by Capcom and BentStuff where name Ultimate Devil Trigger/mode comes from, and widely used in japanese community. They're written in katakana though (most of them) and sometimes intended name in english might be unclear.
