  • I've seen "魔剣" translated as both "Magic Sword" & "Demon Sword." I was curious which the proper title for the Sword of Sparda would be. I've noticed that "魔帝" is officially translated to "Demon Emperor" (as in Mundus) and the Combat Adjudicator in DMC3 refers to it (in its Force Edge form) as a "demon-forged blade." Though the description for the Force Edge also says that it's "magically imbued with Sparda's power." Looking at the DMC Sound Box on iTunes, I see that they simply titled "Ev-18 (魔剣スパーダ取得)" from DMC1 as "Sword of Sparda" as apposed to "Magic/Demon Sword Sparda Aquired." Not sure if just saying "Sword of Sparda" is an acceptable way to translate it or if they were just taking liberties with the translation, especially seeing as they just excluded the "Aquired" part of the song title.

    • Well I guess the answer is neither, according to Devil May Cry 5's website it's officialy translated as "Devil Sword Sparda"

Though it is confusing that they use "デビル" for the Devil in Devil May Cry ( デビル メイ クライ) & Devil Trigger (デビルトリガー), but then used "魔剣" for the Devil in Devil Sword Sparda.

    • I do think that they in fact were taking liberties with the translation.
