  • In DMC 5 it is mentioned within one of the letters that Sparda separated his power into three sword, it makes me wonder how powerful Sparda is. I mean, the guy's power as a whole could be even beyond Dante or Vergil (even after Vergil gain power from Qliphoth or Dante absorbing Sparda and Rebellion) given that those three weapons used to be his power and used to be housed within his being.

    What do you think?

    • Sparda was for sure powerful (way stronger than DMC 3 and DMC 1 Dante)... however it is also stated by Nico in her notes that in Sin Devil Trigger form Dante is far more powerful than the Legendary Dark Knight Sparda himself.

So while he was strong... DMC 5 and probably DMC4 Dante would be able to defeat him rather easily.

    • DMC2 Dante would also probably defeat Sparda.

The final mission's description implies that Dante has surpassed Sparda ("the hunter shall surpass all who came before him"). And we know this is referring to Sparda because it comes immediately after a conversation with Lucia about Sparda going in to fight Argosax, and Dante following his father's footsteps.

Not only that, in the Volume 2 novel, DMC2 Dante in his regular state effortlessly defeated Mundus from the alternate universe the Beastheads teleported them to, and that version of Mundus was strongly implied to be more powerful than the original Mundus.

I'm fairly sure she only says he might be more powerful.
