  • Looking through Capcom's IR documents and found that a company bought the rights to make a live-action DMC film after DMC4's release. What became of this plan, does anyone know? I don't recall there being such a film.

[edit: I meant DMC2 not DMC4, which is clarified below]

    • Im having a hard time believing this isnt a hoax you are trying to start yourself.

    • It says "capcom.co.jp" - it's their official site. If the DMC fandom doesn't know of the film, then I guess absolutely nothing happened after GAGA acquired the rights.

    • Its full of gramatical errors and your claim of the aquisition doesnt line up with the "document" doesnt match up. Please link the page that contains the link to this file.

    • Sure - you can find it here . Any errors in the text would be due to translation issues from Japanese. Dated June 18, 2003, and titled ""Devil May Cry" coming to Hollywood live action movie!!".

    • Checked out GAGA's own website . It includes their rights-purchase for Onimusha and Devil May Cry, and nothing else after that. Since there's no mention of the anime, the rights either expired quickly and were given to someone else, or the licensing agreement just didn't include TV shows.

    • June 2003 would make it half a year after the release of DMC2, not DMC4.

This doesn't look like a hoax, but I've never heard of this either. Sounds more like a funny historic trivia rather than something we could make an article from, too.

There were news of a planned Devil May Cry Netflix series somewhat recently though, but it's probably not related at all.

    • Oh right, heh. DMC4 isn't even mentioned in the document. No idea why I typed the 4 in.

    • Regardless, it was an interesting, if (probably) useless find. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

    • Its odd that they would do such a half assed translation. Either way its neat.

    • If a DMC movie is to be made Reuben and Daniel  HAVE to be Dante and Vergil its destiny they fulfill live action roles if they have the chance
