  • Should we continue to consider "Gods" as any kind of official termonology? Jay considers it because Mundus & Argosax were called Gods and believes them to be a special kind of demon. I say that it is just describing how stupid powerful they are.

    • I agree with you, and looks like the rest of the active editors do too.

And, like I said in the relevant Talks, Rank field makes little sense, there is just not enough canon material to work with. We (you) should remove it.

    • I know that's not the question for me... But as of right now... I do think that while Argosax and Mundus uses "god" as a rank, we do have two gods in Devil May Cry universe...

Time Watcher <- In every single game... The description of this statue says that it's either a statue of the omniscient god of time or... well an omniscient god of time.

The second one...  Nero mentions in DMC 4 as well as Devil May Cry 4: Deadly Fortune how he hates god.. (not Sparda, not Mundus) a different god. Of course he comes to terms with him/her/it at the end.

So my point is... While we do use word god of a rank for super powerful demons, there are canon hints about other beings that might or might not be demons... that truly are the gods. We should do something to separate this term from powerful demons and these beings.

    • Sorry about any confusion about where I stand on the subject. While i personally believe God is nothing more than a description, I am willing to disregard my objections if the admins decide there is validity.

Me and Jay were the only ones to discuss it and we reached a middle ground. You are basically the tie breaker right now. If you say there isnt enough canon material to God being a legit term, I'll change it.

    • @Meshifuari Arimota, fair point, but, there are also hints about angels. (And, by the way, Word of God angels don't exist.) It's too vague to really talk about, and is definitely irrelevant to the demons discussed.

    • @LegionZero, yeah, I guess it wasn't quite as easy to reach any consensus with just you two being the ones around.

Sorry for leaving y'all. Even if that's likely to happen again eventually. <.<

I'd assume the God he's talking about is the "omniscient God of time and space" that's depicted by the Divinity Statues, and has those fallen angels we met in 3. I'd imagine they avoid mentioning it explicitly because having a being like the Christian God physically exist immediately screws up every dramatic scenario with the querstion "well, why doesn't God just fix it?"

    • That's a topic on whole different conversation.

While we're at it. I would like to make a infobox about every single Divinity statue appareance DMC 1 ~ DMC 5. Can I ask you about permission Fila?

        Loading editor
    • I am not sure what kind of infobox that thing would require, but, do go on and explain?

    • We do have an infobox about objects Perfect Amulet. Something like that but with divinity statues from every single game.

    • Also I need help with placing reference ;v

    • @Evil Tim, the devs stated a couple of times that they were inspired by Japanese fiction on this point. I recall Devilman was mentioned? So it's less about not involving God because he could fix anything (because even in fiction where he does exist writers can come up with reasons why he won't): it's just a thing about direction the creators of DMC chose to take. There are no angels, no heaven, and no god - just demons, the beings of dark, and humans, the ones of the light.

That said, Nero was probably referring to God in the same sense the Western world understands it, just a belief.

...Or maybe he was referring to Sparda, a god of the religion he is technically part of, idk. Look, DMC can be confusing even to lore nuts like me, okay?

    • @Meshifuari Arimota, uh, well, I guess... you can try? I am not sure objects really need infoboxes in the first place though, since there is usually no info that cannot be just put into the body of the article...

Although, I guess in case of Divinity Statue there is the perk of being able to add a tab for images from each game?

I am not sure what you mean by "placing reference", please restate.

    • We have an object infobox...

    • Well I'll try to place it tomorrow then, If I figure out how to place references.  Sigh. I cant figure it no matter what I do. I am using [1] so why isnt it working?

Well, the Divinity Statue desacription in 3 is what says it's the "omniscient God of time and space," but I feel their get-out there is the name for the statues in 1, the watcher of time. Presumably it set the universe in motion and then just leaves it to do its thing. I mean those statues work, so there must be something on the other end.

God sure does like being offered demon blood, mind you.

      Refs are <ref>(Text of reference)</ref>

At the bottom of the page you put either {{reflist}} or if you're feeling plain <references />. The space is important in the latter.

    • @Meshifuari Arimota, just add the {{reflist}} template where you want the reference list to appear, and it will work. I edited your message to show how that works.

    • @LegionZero, and I am finding it debatable its existence is warranted in the first place.
