Where else did the Special Edition get Vergil going to Fortuna? Him doing that was not present in the original release but was present in the Novel many people have claimed non-canon even though Capcom has never stated so nor had a game that directly contradicted the entire novel. Now, their remixed version even went further and directly refers to the events that took place. Vergil visiting Fortuna isn't something new and not a coincidence.

And it doesn't matter If we understand the references or not. Devil May Cry is originally japanese to begin with. Us not understand it doesn't stop something from being canon, semi-canon, or non-canon.
